Way of working
-Safe -Clean -Structural
are the most important parameters for the way of working.
See that you have enough space to work. It means you need at least 4 times the base plate size of the player.
Only unpack the parts you need. See that no metal or other dust particles get into the CD-PRO mechanism. Inside the optics there are very powerful magnets sucking any part in. There is no way to remove metal parts from this area. It is worse then a loudspeaker tone coil gap. Seal the mechanism with a household foil ( plastic or aluminum ) “to keep things fresh” as long as possible.
Use the flux material of the multicore solder and use the flux. It means add solder and let if flow. Do not stick or clay around with the solder. It is there to flow. Add fresh solder just to get the flux material in the joint. Avoid dry joints.
A little smoke from the wire shielding is normally not a problem. Try to do it in one go and fast so that you are certain that inner and outer sections of shielded wire do not short.
Take the advise about the bagging of parts serious. Bag what needs to be bagged and keep parts in a box to work from.
Be aware that sweaty fingers may leave stains that will become worse over time.
Never use excessive force. Aluminum is strong but will break as well easily. This applies specially to thread in aluminum.
Check and double check any wiring you do.
Test the power section before you hook up the rest of the player so that you are sure your power is OK.
Avoid scratches on cosmetic parts. You can cover them by means of bubble plastic when you work on the player. |
