VAU1254 CD-PRO2LF  latest version

The new grommets are manufactured by

E-A-R Specialty Composites from

Indianapolis USA The material is of a new generation not availble in 1982 when the original grommets were designed.

At the link below the design guide for the grommets can be found.

The suspension system of the CD module is build up with a spring and damping system. The spring is progressive and the damping is done via a grommet at the foot of the spring.  The free play of the metal chassis should be about 2 mm in all directions.  The retention ring locks the mechanism for abnormal bumps in the Y direction.  A mounting plate should be fixed firm and should not hang in a suspension it self as a double spring/mass system may come into oscillation.

The grommet and spring provide the correct damping.

Suspension used or not,  that is up to your own ideas. If not used a minimum dead mass of 7 Kg is recommended. If suspension is used only use one “spring mass system” and not a double suspension as this may lead to unwanted resonance frequencies.
