Part name: JST connectors ( mechanism side only )

Used for interconnecting the CD-PROx module to the external world. It allows for plugging of the DSA, I2S, EBU/Spdiff, Power and analogue audio.

It all starts with a small bag of connectors. If you do not have a multi action folding and stripping tool from JST then you need to tackle the problem the smart but hard way. The metal terminal will come attached to a strip.

First get rid of the ears on the terminals as they otherwise will obstruct the movement into the plastic housings.

Second you place the metal terminal on the header connector as mounted on the display PCB. You use this connector just as a tool. Put a carton box on your work table and work about 25 cm away from your nose.  As you can see in the side view the terminal is put in such a way on the connector that you can solder it from the top side.  Pre solder the terminal fast and with hardly any solder material. The solder material should not flow to the front of the terminal. It should only stay at the back end section.

Third you take the wires  for the DSA communication and you solder the black wire into the first terminal on the left hand side. This is the one that is shown.

Cut the wire ends first to the correct length. There should be no bare copper or metal behind the terminal. So 0.5 mm is sufficient for the soldering.

Pin 1           If you followed the procedure above then you can click the terminals in one action, in one go,  into the plastic holder. For this you flip the cable so that you have the black wire on the left hand side and the terminal as shown on the picture to the left.  Now you can see the plastic springs lock onto the terminals.

Do it right the first time as it is not easy to get the terminals out for a correction.
