HQ Linear power module


Power supply features:

  • High current diodes for fast capacitor loading. A real fat-boy the BY251 power type.
    No compromise.  3 Amp average.  200 Amp peak

  • Set of low impedance Capxon 3.5 cm tall capacitors for excellent pulse handling. 0.012 ohm

  • Low impedance large choke for superb peak smoothing. No compromise, only the real thing.

  • Wide copper track for a non diffused current flow.

  • Famous LM317 linear regulator from National to ensure a high quality regulation of the loop combined with a good loop stability

  • A for the worst dimensioned heat sink with additional holes in the PCB for an optimum airflow even at modest temperatures thus increasing the loop stability and regulation accuracy at lukewarm temperatures.

Additional features:

  • Each module can be used for either 5 or 9V by means of the solder bridge on the PCB.

  • Power indicator, small green LED.

  • Optional placing holes for the regulator in order to allow as well an external side heat sink on either side. (this supports the cabinet mounting)

  • Additional space is provided to mount an extra capacitor for a further impedance decrease to 0.008 ohm if wanted.

  • Connecter points are provided to allow the mounting of an off-board capacitor.

  • Removing the diodes next to C12 en C11 and bridging de fuse F1 allows for a mid tap transformer to be connected to Y1, Y1 and Y3.

HQ CD power supply modules customizable and super low impedance for pulses.

  • TIP:  Use a heat sink inside your cabinet coupled to a heat sink outside the cabinet. This increases the "internal cabinet surface" and reduces the internal cabinet temperature and therewith increases the life time of the laser.  Maximum  temp is 55 deg Celcius
    (These additional heat sinks do not need to be interconnected to the electronics. Because of this they can be mounted anywhere in the cabinet even as sidewall of the cabinet for mechanical stability.)

  • We do not intend to offer a transformer or transformer set.  They are locally available over the world.  Various standard commercial available transformers can be used with outstanding  results.  Various configurations are possible see also application notes.

  • It is  possible to run the whole configuration direct from a 12V DC source/battery.

  • Per power supply arrangement
    minimum 2 modules  are required.
